Tuesday & Thursday Evenings
6:30pm kick-off

We meet twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:30pm from Stockton Town FC. No two weeks are quite the same — depending on the time of year and what the group fancies, a session might be a steady social run, structured intervals, hill work, or a bit of Fartlek.

Groups set off based on pace — from beginner-friendly right through to faster club runners — and group leaders make sure everyone's accounted for, so no one ever runs alone. Whatever the session, all paces and abilities are welcome.

The Kinds of Sessions We Do

New to running and not sure what these mean? Here's a plain-English guide to the sessions you'll come across through the year — every one of them scaled to your level.

🏃
Social Run

A relaxed, steady run at a chatty pace. The bread and butter of the club — great for building fitness, catching up, and getting the miles in without pressure.

⏱️
Intervals

Short bursts of faster running with recovery jogs in between. It's the quickest way to build speed and stamina. In the summer we often do these on the track.

🔁
Reps & Repeats

Repeating a set effort — say a fast 400m or 800m — several times over, with rest between each. Builds strength and teaches your body to hold a pace.

⛰️
Hill Sessions

Running up an incline and recovering on the way back down. Brilliant for leg strength and running economy — and far less scary than it sounds in a group.

🎲
Fartlek

Swedish for "speed play" — mixing faster and slower running on the fly, often using landmarks like lampposts. A fun, unstructured way to get a quality session in.

🌅
Tempo & Longer Runs

Sustained, comfortably-hard efforts and longer distances to build endurance — ideal if you're training towards a 10K, half, or marathon.

🏃 During the summer months you'll find us doing intervals on the track — a great way to sharpen up in the lighter evenings.

📍 Meet Point: Stockton Town FC, Bishopton Road West, Stockton-on-Tees, TS19 0QD — parking available on site.
Common Questions

Sessions FAQ

Do I need to book in advance?
No booking needed — just turn up at 6:30pm. If it's your first time, arrive a couple of minutes early and introduce yourself to any member with a club vest — they'll get you sorted.
What should I wear?
Comfortable running kit and trainers — that's it. You don't need a club vest to run with us, especially on your first visit. High-vis is handy for darker evenings.
I've never run before — is that okay?
Absolutely. We have beginner-friendly groups that combine running and walking. The most important thing is that you show up. The fitness comes with time.
Are the sessions free to try?
Yes — you can come along for a couple of sessions before deciding whether to join as a full member. Just get in touch via email first so we know to expect you.
Can I run on my own if I can't make the session?
Of course! Members get access to all our route maps via the members area, so you can tackle any club route solo or with a friend whenever suits you.
